Thank you for taking part in our 2025 carer survey
You’ve shared your experience of caring
We’ve heard you
Thank you to all the dementia carers who shared their experiences and views with us. Our survey is now closed and we look forward to sharing the findings with you early in 2026.
We heard you
We would like to thank every carer who took the time to complete our 2025 survey. We’ll be acting on what you told us and speaking up and drawing attention to what must urgently change so that all dementia carers get the support they need.
Why sharing your experience matters
Everyone’s experience of caring is unique. What you tell us will help us better understand the pressures on family carers, shape the services we provide and help us to prioritise what we ask the government to address.
Last year, we heard from over 1,200 carers who told us about their caring roles. Over three quarters of respondents shared that they didn’t have any plans in place if they were unable to care. This is very stressful for carers. We went on to gather more testimonials about the challenges of not having alternative care plans in place.
We then shared dementia carers’ experiences, alongside our survey findings, with politicians and policy makers who can make a difference. We went to Downing Street, the Scottish Parliament and the Senedd in Wales.
Speaking up on behalf of dementia carers
We are continuing to meet with health and social care policy leads across the UK to share our findings and your stories. We’re pushing for improvements to available support.
Our 2025 survey
For the past three years, 9 out of 10 carers who have responded to our survey have told us that they have reached crisis point at least once. This year, we wanted to find out more about:
- the times you’ve struggled to care
- when you’ve felt that you’ve reached a crisis point
- the support you’ve needed
It’s not right that so many dementia carers are reaching crisis points. By understanding more about the situations dementia carers are finding themselves in, what’s pushing them towards crises and what help they have needed, we’ll be able to develop strong campaigns which draw attention to what urgently needs to change.
