Every dementia carer deserves to be heard
Dementia carers are waiting for support right now
Can you help us reach them?
We’re crowdfunding to secure 245 hours of invaluable counselling for dementia carers who need support now.
Every dementia carer deserves and needs to feel seen, heard and supported.
We’re hoping that you can help us make that possible. Lucy Bassett, Counselling Manager, Dementia Carers Count
could provide the first 10 minutes of a carer feeling heard, perhaps for the first time
could give a carer 20 minutes where it’s all about them
could help provide 60 minutes of invaluable counselling
could provide six hours of counselling, giving a carer time to make sense of difficult feelings and emotions
Can you help a dementia carer feel heard?
Right now, across the UK people are caring for a loved one with dementia – often alone, often overwhelmed, and almost always without the right support.
No support. No advice. No preparation. No one to lean on. No time to adjust. Lucy Bassett, Counselling Manager, Dementia Carers Count
Many people don’t realise it, but 1 in 2 of us will either give or need dementia care in our lifetimes.
For those who step into the role, it can feel like a world no one else sees.
Many of the dementia carers we speak to share how isolated they feel. How friends step back, because they don’t know what to say. How their world has become smaller. How they feel they are losing themselves, as well as the person they are caring for.
Every dementia carer deserves someone to listen to them
We need your support to provide counselling to more dementia carers.
Being heard can make all the difference.
It is a true gift to have a phone call with someone who wants to give you their full attention, listen to whatever you need to say, and give you what you need in that moment, whether it be exploring solutions or simply the space to vent. Lesley, dementia carer
