Manifesto for Dementia Carers

Manifesto for Dementia Carers

Today, we launch our Manifesto for Dementia Carers.

This sets out what carers have told us would make a difference to them and our recommendations for policy changes. One in two of us are likely to be impacted by dementia in our lifetimes, either by providing care for someone living with dementia, living with it ourselves, or both. Dementia care should therefore be an important priority for policy makers.

You can read all our recommendations here. Each one has been informed by what carers have told us they need.

We’re calling for all candidates to pledge their support for dementia carers and show voters they’re willing to prioritise dementia care in the next parliament.

Helen Pyper, Head of Policy & Campaigns at Dementia Carers Count said:

“This General Election we would like as many parliamentary candidates as possible to see our manifesto and commit to making sure that dementia carers receive the support they so desperately need. If you get chatting to someone standing for election, perhaps someone will knock on your door, ask them what they will do to support dementia carers if they are elected.”
