Board Charity Dementia carers Governance Growth Strategy Support Trustee

We are delighted to welcome three new Trustees to our Board. They bring a wealth of professional expertise alongside deeply personal connections to dementia and caring.

We’re excited to welcome our new trustees, whose insight and commitment will strengthen our work. Dementia carers give so much of themselves, and together we will do even more to ensure that no one feels isolated, invisible, or alone. Frances Lawrence, CEO Dementia Carers Count

We spoke with three of our newly appointed Trustees about their decision to join our Board, the personal experiences that connect them to our mission, and the difference they hope to make for dementia carers through their roles.

Emma Green, Trustee

Emma joins our Board of Trustees with 28 years of experience across scholarly publishing, research infrastructure and conservation, supporting mission-driven organisations to build sustainable, diversified income and adapt through change. She currently leads development at Invest in Open Infrastructure and serves as a Non-Executive Director at Wild Team Conservation.

Emma is passionate about supporting Dementia Carers Count and bringing her experience in sustainable income and partnerships to the organisation. Her connection to the charity’s mission is deeply personal, having watched her mum care for her grandma with dementia and seeing first-hand how invisible carers can sometimes feel, and the difference it makes when they are truly seen and supported.

Ellen Miller

Ellen joins our Board of Trustees with extensive experience across the charity and adult social care sectors. She is a former CEO of several national charities and has also worked as a Chief Officer in Adult Social Care.

Ellen’s connection to Dementia Carers Count is deeply personal. She cared for her husband Terry through dementia until his death in 2025, an experience that strengthened her passion for ensuring dementia carers are seen, heard and supported.

Drake Peabody

Drake joins our Board of Trustees with more than 15 years of international finance experience, alongside charity trustee experience including serving as a Trustee at Village Water. His background includes financial planning and analysis, governance, and risk.

Drake is passionate about supporting Dementia Carers Count, having seen first-hand his grandmother’s battle with dementia and the profound impact it had on his father as her carer, making the charity’s work a cause very close to home.

We are delighted to welcome Ellen, Emma and Drake to Dementia Carers Count. Their combined experience, insight and personal connection to dementia caring will play an important role in helping us continue to champion and support dementia carers across the UK.
