National Lottery funding to expand vital support for carers

National Lottery funding to expand vital support for carers

Dementia Carers Count has received a £19,834 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund – Awards for All England.

We are delighted to announce that Dementia Carers Count has been awarded a generous grant of £19,834 from The National Lottery Community Fund – Awards for All England. This funding will allow us to reach even more unpaid carers through our growing programme of virtual peer support groups with expert guidance and enriched online resources – all completely free for friends and family caring for someone with dementia.

At Dementia Carers Count, our mission is to ensure that unpaid family carers, often the invisible backbone of dementia care—feel supported, valued, and equipped to manage the daily challenges they face. Through expert-led groups, one-to-one support, practical tools, and digital services, we aim to provide carers with the confidence, knowledge, and emotional resilience they need to care for a loved one while maintaining their own wellbeing.

As rising living costs and stretched care services continue to place immense pressure on families, many dementia carers are feeling increasingly isolated and overwhelmed. Our online support groups provide a safe, supportive environment where carers can share their experiences, access professional guidance, and feel less alone in their journey.

We are incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund and to everyone who plays the National Lottery. This grant allows us to extend our reach and provide life-changing support to carers who often go unseen. Loneliness and reaching crisis point should never be the cost of being an unpaid carer. Thanks to this funding, we can ensure more carers get the connection and expert help they need to cope and realise they are not alone. Justine Tatt, Fundraising Manager, Dementia Carers Count
