Continuing healthcare funding can make all the difference to families who are struggling with care costs. However the process to access funding is confusing and complicated.

Some people may be eligible for NHS continuing healthcare (CHC) funding if their primary need is for health care rather than social care.
CHC funding can make all the difference to families who are struggling with care costs. It can cover care at home or in a care home.
However, accessing CHC funding is complicated.
We’re supporting Dementia UK’s campaign, alongside 11 other health charities, to ask NHS England to review the CHC assessment process so that it better recognises the cognitive, behavioural and care needs of people living with dementia.
We’re also calling for better support for families throughout the process.
We believe that when someone in England has complex, life-limiting needs, NHS CHC should cover the full cost of their care, either at home or in a care home. Helen Pyper, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Dementia Carers Count
