Celebrating £1million in additional financial support for carers

We’re here to help

We’ve achieved a major milestone in securing over £1 million in additional financial support for dementia carers and their families.

We started to offer dementia carers benefits advice in June 2024.

Our specialist advisors work closely with carers to help them access all the financial support that they are entitled to. This can include support to complete paperwork to secure new ongoing benefits payments as well as one-off back dated payments for support carers should have been receiving.

We make sure that carers receive council tax exemptions and discounts if applicable.

We’re here to help carers maximise their income. We’ll go through what you’re entitled to, help you make sense of confusing forms and support you to complete paperwork.

We can also represent you at appeals if your claim is refused. We only close cases when we’ve made sure you’ve got all you’re entitled to, including any arrears you may be due.
Rob Sherratt, Advice and Advocacy Specialist, Dementia Carers Count

This success is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team, and we’re delighted to celebrate the difference they are making every day.

We know that:

Being a dementia carer is tough for many reasons. All that we do is aimed at making life easier for carers and we know that it can make a huge difference to reduce financial worries. Frances Lawrence, CEO, Dementia Carers Count

If you’re a carer and would like advice, guidance, or just someone to talk to, our team is here to help. We can connect you with the right support, resources, and information tailored to your needs. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What financial support can carers access?

Getting the right financial support is vital for carers. Very often the person affected by dementia will need to pay for additional care and support. For the carer, the additional caring responsibilities can mean having to reduce working hours or potentially stopping work altogether.
