Donanemab: NHS won’t fund new Alzheimer’s drug
Donanemab UK licensing – dementia carers need support today
Disappointment at Donanemab UK decision, but dementia carers need support today
Commenting on the decision by National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) not to make Donanemab available on the NHS, Frances Lawrence CEO Dementia Carers Count said:
“There will be disappointment that, like Lecanemab, Donanemab is not being made available through the NHS, but treatments like these do offer hope for the future.
“We remain deeply concerned about the lack of support dementia carers have right now. Everyone caring for someone with dementia needs information, advice and personal support. Too many carers tell us that they feel overwhelmed and alone and struggle to cope.
“NICE’s recommendations for the support dementia carers should receive need to be acted on and funded. With dementia prevalence on the increase, this must be a priority.”
