Make social care fairer for dementia carers

Make social care fairer for dementia carers

There needs to be greater equity in our health and social care systems. Right now, a dementia diagnosis doesn’t just take an emotional toll on the person with dementia and their families, it means they are likely to incur a financial penalty too. This is not fair or sustainable.

There is no automatic entitlement to free social care support if you are caring for someone with dementia. Helen Pyper, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Dementia Carers Count
There are enough challenges to cope with day to day when you’re caring for someone with dementia. There shouldn’t be a financial penalty too. It’s not fair and we’re speaking up about what needs to change. Helen Pyper, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Dementia Carers Count
