Changing the future of dementia care
Let’s change the future of dementia care
It’s time to end the injustices and inequalities that dementia carers face. We’re committed to amplifying carers’ voices. Dementia carers know what support they need. Help change the future of dementia care.
We carry out an annual survey of dementia carers experiences to gather insights and evidence about the challenges they experience and what needs to urgently change. Helen Pyper, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Dementia Carers Count

Dementia Carers Count 2025 SurveyWe’re doing everything we can to raise and amplify dementia carers’ voices and experiences. We’re in regular contact with elected politicians and people who are making decisions and recommendations about health and social care funding and resources.
We need your support to make sure that the needs of dementia carers are fully understood by everyone involved in deciding what care and support will be available in future. Helen Pyper, Head of Policy and Campaigns, Dementia Carers Count
We cannot expect unpaid family members to become experts over night once someone has had a dementia diagnosis.
We cannot simply ignore carers’ own health and wellbeing needs.
Conversations and decisions about the future of dementia care must take account of the needs of unpaid carers.
You can help make a difference to the support dementia carers receive
We cannot keep speaking up without your support.
This year there are important opportunities to ensure that dementia carers’ needs are met.
We’re expecting recommendations to overhaul the way adult social care is funded and resourced.
We’re also expecting a consultation on how the NHS will support patients with dementia.
Our survey findings enable us to share vital information about what dementia carers need with the people who are working on what health and social care support will look like in future.
There are lots of ways in which you can get involved.

Your support can make a huge difference to what we are able to do to raise the profile of dementia carers experiences and needs.
From the cost of a stamp to send clear information to an elected politician, to enabling us to pay train fares and respite care costs so a dementia carer can come and share their lived experience with people making decisions about how social care could be funded.
Every donation helps and enables us champion the needs of dementia carers. Sofie Fritz, Public Fundraising Manager, Dementia Carers Count
