Every year in the UK thousands of unpaid carers look after someone with dementia but receive little or no support.
At Dementia Carers Count, we stand for them. We campaign for change and provide practical, emotional and financial support to dementia carers across the UK.
We also provide training and consultancy to all kinds of organisations, across the UK, to improve the support that employees or families of people with dementia receive.
About the freelance training role
We’re looking for freelance associate professionals who can help us deliver a range of activities, including
- online and in-person facilitated training sessions for other health and social care professionals
- community-based training or support sessions for carers and families of people with dementia
- dementia awareness sessions for organisations, including simulation training
- relevant consultancy to organisations on supporting carers in the workplace or community
- updating training materials
All reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed. Unfortunately due to the nature of the work, we can’t guarantee work or minimum hours.
About you
You’ll be a health, social care or allied professional with experience in training. You might have a background in
- Dementia nursing, supporting dementia carers or dementia advice
- Counselling, psychology or psychiatry supporting carers or people with dementia
- Occupational or speech and language therapy
- Legal or financial advice, especially around benefits and financial entitlements, social work or advocacy with a focus on dementia and caring
You’ll have solid experience in training and facilitation – either internal or external teams, and you’ll be looking for casual or freelance training work.
You may be in part-time employment, recently retired, or just looking for a more flexible approach to work. Whatever the motivation, we are confident you will enjoy being part of our friendly team.
Lived experience of dementia care
We particularly welcome applicants who bring lived experience of dementia care, as this perspective strengthens our understanding of the challenges carers face and helps shape meaningful, relevant strategy.

We pay £42.75 / hour or £350 / day (based on 8 hours) plus travel and subsistence, excluding VAT.
