Fundraise for Dementia Carers Count and Make it Count!

The funds you raise help to give dementia carers the confidence they need to care for the person that really needs them. Our three-day courses cost £650 per person, but we offer them at no cost to the carer. Our service costs around £500,000 per year and this will increase as the number of carers we support continues to rise.

Whether you want to get active or social – there are loads of great ways you can help raise vital funds. Need inspiration? Take a look at our ideas below!

Care for a cuppa?

Have a virtual or a real-life cuppa and catch up with your friends while you raise money to support dementia carers. Roll your sleeves up and get baking – have a theme, baking competition, or a cake sale to take it to the next level. Invite family, friends, neighbours or colleagues to a coffee morning or afternoon tea, either charge per slice of cake, for entry, or just ask for a donation and don’t forget to hold a raffle or prize draw.

Care for a quiz?

Organise a quiz and charge players or teams to participate. If you get stuck on questions – there are loads of free quizzes available online. This is a great opportunity to organise a virtual fundraising event or in person, using your local pub, village hall or school. Make it family-friendly by including questions the children can answer, but maybe the adults will struggle with, or fun challenges like tasting test, limbo dancing and cracker eating, and don’t forget that all-important raffle or prize draw to raise extra funds.

Care to get creative?

Put your cooking skills to good use – make chocolates, fudge or biscuits with the children to be sold to friends and family, or get crafty and put your other talents to the test – hold a plant sale, make jewellery or accessories to sell to friends and family, online or at a local event.

Care to get active?

Sign up for one of the many organised walks, runs, cycles or treks all over the country, or simply do your own. If you’re just getting started, how about taking part in your local Park Run? It’s 5km, but if you want to go further try a 10km run, half marathon, marathon, triathlon or even an Ironman challenge. There are organised events up and down the country, so pick one that’s close to you and get yourself signed up. Alternatively, create your own challenge. How about your own 60-mile cycle or a 15-mile walk over the weekend with friends or family; set a challenge you can complete over a month, sponsor your children or grandchildren to run, walk, cycle or scoot for dementia carers, they could go a mile a day for a week, see how far they can go, you could even do something like this with your school or local group.

Care to skydive?

Completing a skydive for DCC will offer breath-taking views and an exhilarating rush. Organised by the fantastic team at GoSkydive, you will be looked after by a fully qualified instructor and you don’t need any previous experience. This challenge is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. We recommend that you have a fundraising target of £375. Book your skydive for Dementia Carers Count with GoSkydive today.
