This session will be led by Lorraine Haining

We will support you to understand the thoughts and feelings a person with dementia may be experiencing which lead to their stress and distress.  You will be provided with the opportunity to consider practical ways of identifying and managing the needs of the person you care for which can help to reduce these challenging responses.

The course will also apply to your own emotions which can arise in difficult situations. By understanding these, it can allow you to respond calmly and appropriately to maintain the health and well-being of yourself and the person you care for.

This session is for you if:

  • you would like to understand the stress and distress a person with dementia may be experiencing and ways to support their well being
  • you want to spend time with experienced healthcare professionals who will answer your questions in a safe, supportive environment
  • you would like to meet other people who are taking care of a friend or family member who are in a similar situation
