Spotlight on changes in reasoning, planning and emotional control

20 May 2021
2:30pm - 4:00pm

This session will be led by Sue Hinds

It is an opportunity to focus specifically on some of the planning and emotional control challenges which can occur for a person with dementia alongside support strategies which can really impact on the well-being of the person and your ability to cope with the challenges. These challenges may include the ability to start and stop tasks, moderate emotional responses and using appropriate social behaviours.    By understanding the challenges for the person with dementia, this session will provide you with the knowledge that you have the ability and skills to support some of these challenges.

This session is for you if:

  • you would like to learn about how changes in the brain can affect the emotional responses and ability to control of everyday situations
  • you would like some ideas for supporting the person and reduce your own fear or embarrassment of potential situations
  • you want to spend time with experienced healthcare professionals who will answer your questions in a safe, supportive environment
  • you would like to meet other people who are taking care of a friend or family member with dementia in a similar situation

We don’t want anyone to be excluded from our services and so we can continue to provide them for free we invite you to donate to our charity if you are able to. All donations, big or small, make a huge difference and will help us support more family carers when they need it most.
