This course for carers whose family member has moved into a care home is more tailored to the needs of this group of carers. Topics will include making the most of visits, communicating with the care home team, understanding funding, dealing with feelings and palliative care.
Family carers attending this course will have the time to think about their own well-being and we provide a range of tools to enhance resilience and build confidence.
As a charity we do not make a profit. We are fortunate to have reserves from the sale of the assets of our previous charity (we used to own care homes) to invest in the development and start-up costs of our new services. It costs the charity £650 per carer to deliver the course, including food and accommodation.
From January 2020, we will be charging £250 to attend these courses. This will help us to keep our services sustainable and reach as many carers as possible. If you cannot afford this but would like to attend a course, please get in touch with us and we will discuss options. We don’t want anyone to be excluded from our courses and will do our best to accommodate you. If you can afford to give more, we also invite participants to donate what they can on completion of the course. All donations, big or small, make such a difference.
