Contract:           Permanent

Hours:                 Full time (35 hours)

We are in a social care crisis, the like of which has not been seen before. At the heart of this are the millions of unpaid carers who look after friends and relatives with little recognition or respite. At Dementia Carers Count, we stand for them. We campaign for change and provide practical and emotional support to dementia carers across the UK. 2024 marks a key milestone for us, as we launch our new strategy to grow our activity and impact.

Central to the delivery of our strategy is the Carers Support Line. The Carers Support Line delivers in-depth one-to-one support through casework and counselling. The service is moving from pilot to flagship, and we are looking to recruit a key role to further enhance and develop our offer to dementia carers.

The Advice and Advocacy Specialist will be responsible for listening, assessing and supporting dementia carers when they first contact the service. They will deliver advice, advocacy and casework services to secure carers rights and entitlements. They will also play an instrumental role in the design and development of this new service.

We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of carers rights and experience of providing successful casework services. We need someone who is adaptable and open-minded, but also able to focus on case management and carer outcomes.

You would be joining a small and remote multi-disciplinary Services Team, consisting of a Dementia Nurse Specialist, a Social Worker, and a Clinical Psychologist. The role can be based anywhere in the UK, with attendance at occasional in-person meetings, typically around once a month, and usually in London.

We are passionate about making a difference for dementia carers. If you like the sound of the role, and believe you have the skills and experience to join us, then we would love to hear from you.
