About Dementia Carers Count:

Dementia Carers Count is a national charity that offers life-changing, practical, professional health and care support that families living with dementia so often find isn’t there for them. Our services are free and give family carers the opportunity to understand more about dementia, to connect with others in a similar situation and to look after themselves while navigating the highs and lows of caring for someone with dementia. Everything we do is developed closely with family carers and delivered by professionals, so we can offer services that genuinely help carers with their needs – wherever they are and whenever they need us.

Role description

The Services Marketing Officer is a new position at Dementia Carers Count, adding some much needed capacity to our Communications & Marketing team, with a specific focus on promoting our services for family dementia carers. The post holder will have responsibility for running and managing day to day marketing; including social media, digital communication and offline channels.

The Services Marketing Officer will report directly to the Marketing and PR Manager but will also have a strong connection to DCC’s Service Delivery Team, working closely with them to ensure that all communication around our services is carefully integrated with upcoming activity and planning.

Main duties

  • Working closely with the Service Delivery Team to agree and implement marketing plans and set up online events
  • Keeping DCC’s (WordPress) website content up to date
  • Supporting the Service Delivery Team with materials – such as developing bespoke leaflets for particular organisations, and assisting with marketing needs for events
  • Designing and editing regular newsletters for different audiences, including developing a specific newsletter for health and care professionals
  • Social media management, content creation and monitoring – including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linked In
  • Regular social media reporting
  • Organising DCC’s attendance at trade shows and events
  • Liaising with DCC’s web agency and other external contractors
  • Providing marketing administration support to the Marketing and PR Manager
  • Keeping the DCC database up to date (Salesforce)
  • Ensuring all marketing and communication activities comply with GDPR regulations

About you

We are looking for a confident communicator, who is able to work across the organisation and liaise at all levels to produce and manage effective marketing. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be confident in preparing presentations and reports. We would like you to have strong skills in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, WordPress and Canva, as well as some experience of database management (though training will be given). High competency in social media management and content development is essential, and it would be ideal if you are comfortable with video creation and editing.

Some knowledge or experience of dementia and/or the healthcare landscape is preferable, though not essential.
