Position: HR Assistant

Reporting to:  Assistant Director of Finance

Direct Reports: None

Location: Homeworking, but must be able to travel into the London from time to time as required

Salary:  c £25,000

Hours of work: £16,800 pa (£28,000 full time equivalent)

Dementia Carers Count is a national charity that offers life-changing, practical, professional health and care support that families living with dementia. Our services are free and give family carers the opportunity to understand more about dementia, to connect with others in a similar situation and to look after themselves while navigating the highs and lows of caring for someone with dementia. Everything we do is developed closely with family carers and delivered by professionals, so we can offer services that genuinely help carers with their needs – wherever they are and whenever they need us.

Job Specification

A broad experience of HR and database management. Excellent interpersonal skills. Hands on approach, adaptable and flexible within the role. Key requirements will include:


  • Proven experience in HR practises
  • HR qualification


  • Experience of HR databases/software


  • Hands-on experience of HR systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Empathy for the core objective of the organisation.
  • Keen to learn a variety of systems and the ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to develop new skills as the organisation grows.
  • Hands on, adaptable and flexible within the role
  • Experience of managing full cycle of recruitment
  • Experience of payroll/HR legislation
  • Relevant HR qualification and/or ability to demonstrate skills and knowledge
  • Knowledge of HR Legislation
  • Excellent organisational ability

Job description

  • Manage day to day operation of HR function
  • Develop HR systems and processes
  • Update and maintain employee records
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (e.g., recruitment, training, grievances, performance reviews)
  • Deal with employee requests regarding human resource issues, rules, and regulations etc
  • Assist in payroll preparation
  • Ensure the HR database contains accurate information and I regularly updated
  • Support the process of recruitment including placement of ads, JD`s, shortlisting, scheduling of interviews etc
  • Collate EDI information and provide regular reporting.
  • Conduct part of employee induction programme.
  • Provide cover for the Finance Assistant when required
  • Provide support in the absence of the Assistant Director of Finance
  • Develop templates and library of HR forms
  • Continually monitor update in HR legislation and update senior management
